Many look at referees societies & think we do not support our local clubs/universities/schools when not refereeing a society appointed fixture, but this is far from the truth! Of our active refereeing members over two thirds have refereed a game for a local organisation; these games could be a fixture in the Somerset Junior Leagues, a mini/junior school/club friendly or even a senior fixture.
As a group we believe in giving back to the clubs have that supported our journey as match officials. We do have members who are teachers who will be refereeing their school games within the week, our university students will be out supporting internal games & many of our members have great links with the clubs they started their journey.
We are launching a new programme which support the local referees who are out every weekend refereeing a non-society games. The clubs which the society covers will be split into three areas with each of these areas having two meetings a season to support their referees growth, they will also be invited to the society training meetings. All clubs/schools/universities will be kept up to date of when these meetings are with their fixture secretary being our point of contact.
