Safeguarding

Somerset Rugby Referees Society takes the safeguarding of all members very seriously. To find more out about safeguarding in rugby then head to the RFU website, here.

If you have anything to report then please contact the Society Safeguarding Officer, Paul Connolly.

DBS Checks

DBS Checks are required for any match official involved in youth rugby matches, as well as those involved in supporting Young Match Officials. In order to achieve this, you can obtain your DBS check free of charge from the Society, only RFU DBS checks can be used for this purpose. If you have a check through other rugby channels (e.g. a club), this will suffice and please provide the society with the details from GMS (please make sure you are a member of the society on GMS).

RFU eLearning

To start the process of your DBS check you will need to complete the RFU eLearning: Introduction to Safeguarding course. This MUST be completed & on your GMS before the society can proceed with the next step of applying for your DBS.

DBS ID checks & Form

Once completed & it is on your GMS profile, you will then receive an email to complete your DBS ID selection. To be able to proceed you will need to have your selected ID checked by 1 of either Paul Connolly (Society Safeguarding Officer) or Harry Garmston (Society Safeguarding Assistant). You will then be sent another email to upload your information to be able to proceed with your GMS
