Community
We know rugby can be lonely. We have created an area for all females to talk with our federation partners, Dorset & Wilts.
Games
Where possible we have opportunities to showcase female referees in the female game to show others they can be part of the refereeing team.
Development
Whether you choose to develop in the men’s or women’s game; there are tailored progression plans available to you.
I started my rugby referee journey with SRRS having never refereed before and can honestly say from the get go, from getting set up within the society to being appointed my first fixture, it’s been easy and stress-free. Any questions I had throughout the process were answered. The support of both the mentors, on game days, & the academy WhatsApp chat has been brilliant. At no point in my journey have I felt unsupported or at a loss when needing assistance. Being a FMO I was unsure of how I would be taken in and perceived but I’ve felt nothing but praise and inclusivity within the society. When I showed interest in wanting to go as far as I possibly can and improve as much as possible as a match official I have always had support and information on hand on how to improve, what I’m doing right and what my next steps are. The second best decision I ever made was to become a rugby referee, the best decision was to be rugby referee within the Somerset Rugby Referee Society.
